China is working to develop an integrated asteroid monitoring system, according to the Xinhua news agency. The project aims to build a unified space- and ground-based observation and early-warning system, to serve as a cornerstone of an asteroid defence network.
China's National Space Administration indicated that the project is currently in the technical and economic feasibility study phase. The system is expected to conduct comprehensive and precise surveillance of near-Earth objects.
