Sherif Ekramy, goalkeeper for Egyptian club Pyramids FC's first team, has officially announced his retirement.
In a video posted to his official social media accounts, Ekramy said that the day had come for him to end his career in football, hang up his gloves, and bring to a close a footballing journey that spanned nearly 33 years.
"Thank you to every player and coach I worked with, and to every club I played for — but Al Ahly remains something else. It is the place where I grew up, and it holds a special place in my heart," he added.
"The time has come to make the decision. Perhaps every player knows that this day will come at some point, but it is not an easy decision," he said.
Ekramy began his career in Al Ahly's youth ranks before turning professional with Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He then returned to Egyptian football via Al Gouna, subsequently going on to guard Al Ahly's goal before departing in September 2020 to join Pyramids.
