French President Emmanuel Macron sent a congratulatory message to the Spanish national team after it qualified for the 2026 World Cup final, while also expressing his support for his own country's squad following their semi-final elimination, affirming his confidence in the current generation's future.

Macron wrote on his official account on X: "I congratulate Spain on qualifying for the final, and I thank the France national team for representing us very well indeed."

The French president added: "This defeat is certainly painful, but we have a promising and young team, and a very bright future awaits them."

The Spanish national team reached the final after defeating France 2-0, moving closer to claiming their second World Cup title, having won their first at the 2010 edition in South Africa after beating the Netherlands 1-0 in the final.

Spain now awaits the identity of their opponent in the final, as Argentina and England meet this Wednesday evening to decide the second qualification spot. Argentina are seeking to reach the final and continue their pursuit of a fourth title, while England are aiming to compete for their second, following their only triumph at the 1966 edition.
