The absence of Munir Nasrawi, father of Spanish national team star Lamine Yamal, from the 2026 World Cup in the United States has raised many questions, given the continuous presence of the rest of the player's family in the stands to support him throughout La Roja's campaign.

According to Spanish newspaper El Español, citing the owner of a hotel in the Spanish city of Mataró, the main reason for Yamal's father's absence is his health condition — he suffers from epilepsy, which makes him reluctant to undertake long journeys.

The newspaper quoted sources close to Nasrawi as saying he told them: "I don't know if I'll be able to go — I suffer from epilepsy," referring to the difficulties he faces in travelling to the United States and moving between the cities hosting the tournament.

Reports indicated that the Spanish national team's movement between several cities in the United States and Mexico — such as Atlanta, Guadalajara, Dallas, and Los Angeles — would have required repeated flights, which is not advisable given his medical condition, according to those close to him.

The same sources also reported that Yamal's father expressed his desire to improve his health, saying: "I would sacrifice everything I own to be able to develop and get better."

Marca newspaper noted that despite his father's absence, Lamine Yamal has the strong support of close family members. His mother, Sheila Ebana, follows all his matches from the stands, alongside his brother Keyn, who has become one of the most prominent supportive figures for the Spanish star during the tournament, in addition to a number of his close friends.

Yamal continues to lead Spain's ambitions at the World Cup as the team prepares for an eagerly anticipated semi-final clash against France, amid hopes that he will recapture his best form in one of the tournament's most important matches.
