Canada and Mexico have closed their hosting chapter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the conclusion of the round of 16, as the tournament moves entirely to the United States, which will host all quarter-final, semi-final, third-place play-off, and final matches, according to the tournament schedule.
The match between Switzerland and Colombia at BC Place in Vancouver, which ended with Switzerland winning on penalties, was the last game hosted by Canada in the tournament. Canadian venues conclude their run having staged 13 matches in total — 7 in Vancouver and 6 in Toronto.
Mexico's hosting stint also came to an end after matches were played at Azteca in Mexico City, Akron in Guadalajara, and BBVA in Monterrey. The curtain fell on Mexican venues after they hosted 13 matches, including the tournament's opening game between Mexico and South Africa, as well as a number of knockout-round fixtures.
The United States will host the remaining matches of the tournament — 8 games in total — having already staged the largest share of World Cup matches since the competition kicked off. FIFA has allocated all fixtures from the quarter-finals onward to the United States.
The quarter-finals will be played at venues in Boston, where France face Morocco; Los Angeles, which hosts Spain against Belgium; Miami, for the Norway versus England tie; and Kansas City, which stages the Argentina versus Switzerland match.
Dallas will host one of the two semi-finals, while the second semi-final will be held in Atlanta. Miami is set to stage the third-place play-off, before the tournament concludes with the final at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey on 19 July.
