Morocco suffered a painful blow during their Round of 16 clash against Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after striker Ismail Saibari was forced to leave the pitch due to injury in the 21st minute, with Soufiane Rahimi coming on as his replacement.

Saibari is one of the standout stars of the Moroccan squad in the current tournament, having scored 3 goals in the ongoing edition — against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti — to lead the Atlas Lions' scoring charts at the 2026 World Cup.

Saibari had also become the first Arab player to score 3 goals in a single World Cup edition, before the injury brought his participation to an early end in the match currently being played at Houston stadium against Canada in the Round of 16.
