The Czech Football Association announced on Monday the departure of head coach Miroslav Kubík from his post, following the team's elimination in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The Czech association said in a statement that both parties had agreed to terminate the contract.
Kubík, for his part, directed criticism at the local press.
"My decision was influenced by the media campaign that built its claims on incomplete facts and lies about me," Kubík wrote in a statement.
Following a 0-3 defeat to Mexico in the final round of the group stage, Kubík had ruled out resigning from his position.
"I have a contract, and I will never give up — I am not thinking about that," he said after the match.
However, the situation changed after talks with the association and media calls for his removal.
Kubík had taken charge of the Czech national team in December, leading them to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 20 years, through the European play-offs.
