Yasser Al Misehal resigns as Saudi football federation president

Yasser Al Misehal announced on Sunday his resignation as president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation following the national team's early exit from the World Cup, after two draws and a defeat in the group stage.

Al Misehal wrote on his X account: "Starting from my conviction that responsibility requires making way for a new phase, I have decided not to continue until the end of the current term."

The Saudi national team, which is preparing to host the Asian Cup at the beginning of next year, finished bottom of Group H with 2 points, following draws against Uruguay and Cape Verde and a defeat to Spain.
