The way the city of Vancouver received the FIFA World Cup did not go unnoticed, as Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne praised BC Place stadium after his side secured top spot in Group G and a place in the round of 32 with a commanding 5-1 victory over New Zealand.

De Bruyne described BC Place as "a real football stadium" following Belgium's emphatic win over New Zealand.

The 34-year-old's skills were on full display as he scored a goal, with fans repeatedly chanting "Oh Kevin De Bruyne" in admiration.

The former Manchester City midfielder told reporters: "Vancouver, I haven't been here for very long, but I have to say that playing in this stadium was a really great experience."

Belgium had played their first two matches in the tournament in Seattle and Los Angeles. De Bruyne said: "The other two stadiums are big, but you feel like it's an NFL atmosphere, so I think it's really great for us. You could feel it on the pitch, it's a little bit different, so that was enjoyable."

Belgium finished in first place, ahead of Egypt on goal difference, after both sides ended the group stage on 5 points from 3 matches.

Belgium will face one of the eight best third-placed teams in the round of 32.
