FIFA has unveiled the latest edition of its Power Rankings for World Cup 2026 players, a data-driven ranking that measures players' impact on matches, following changes brought about by the second and third rounds of the group stage, with a number of stars standing out in the attacking, creativity and defensive categories.

The ranking, presented by FIFA using advanced analytics, evaluates players' contributions across attacking, creative and defensive dimensions, with the aim of identifying the most influential figures in the tournament as it progresses.

Lionel Messi reclaimed the top spot in the attacking category following his performance in Argentina's victory over Austria, while France's Michael Olise maintained his place among the top three in the creativity category after contributing to his country's 3-0 win over Iraq.

Belgium's Brandon Mechele topped the defensive category after moving up one place, while Morocco's Bilal El Khannouss recorded the biggest jump in the latest update, climbing to 24th in the creativity ranking.

The rankings also saw a notable rise for Bosnia's Kerim Alijabegović, who jumped 276 places to sit 23rd in the attacking category, one of the largest individual leaps of the tournament.

Ivory Coast players made a strong impression in the update, with Joël Dowy moving up 107 places in the defensive ranking, while Nicolas Pépé climbed to 19th in the attacking ranking after scoring two goals for his national team.

Canada's Alistair Johnston also continued his upward trajectory, jumping 103 places in the defensive ranking to emerge as one of the standout beneficiaries of the second and third round results.

FIFA's official website noted that the latest update covers all tournament matches played up to and including Turkey's victory over the United States and Australia's draw with Paraguay, with ranking updates set to continue as the World Cup progresses.
