The Iraq national team has raised the red card tally at the 2026 World Cup to 9 dismissals, after player Ribin Sulaka received a red card during the match against Senegal at the conclusion of Group 9 fixtures.
Sulaka was sent off in the 10th minute of the match, which Iraq lost to Senegal by a clean 5-0 scoreline, in the third and final round of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The early dismissal compounded the difficulties facing the "Lions of Mesopotamia" against the Senegalese side, before Iraq suffered a heavy defeat that ended their tournament run in the first round without a single point.
Iraq lost all three of their Group 9 matches against Norway, France, and Senegal, exiting the World Cup early after a difficult start and a string of heavy results.
Sulaka became the 9th player to be sent off in the tournament so far, and the third Arab player to receive a red card in the current edition of the World Cup.
Sulaka was preceded on the list of dismissed players by Qataris Homam Al Amin and Assim Madibo, South Africans Sifivelo Sithole and Themba Zwane, Mexican César Montes, Bosnian Tarik Muharemagić, Paraguayan Miguel Almirón, and Belgian Nathan Ngoyi.
