Leroy Sané scored an early goal to put Germany ahead against Ecuador, finding the net just 110 seconds into the match in the third and final round of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup.

The goal came from a pass by Florian Wirtz, which Sané met with a direct left-footed shot into the net, giving the Germany national team a flying start to the match.

The goal became the second-fastest ever scored by the German national team in World Cup history, arriving 92 years after Ernst Lehner's goal against Austria at the 1934 edition, which came just 25 seconds after the opening whistle.

Lehner's goal holds third place on the list of the fastest goals in World Cup history, which is topped by Turkey's Hakan Şükür after 11 seconds, followed by Czechoslovakia's Václav Mašek, who scored after 15 seconds at the 1962 World Cup, and ahead of England's Bryan Robson and American Clint Dempsey.

The goal gave Sané a morale boost following criticism he had faced after his first two matches in the tournament, as it is his first goal with Germany in the current edition of the World Cup.
