England manager Thomas Tuchel appeared frustrated after his side's goalless draw with Ghana in the second round of Group 12 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Commenting on a missed chance by his striker Harry Kane in the 86th minute, Tuchel said: "Normally, that chance is a goal — it was a golden opportunity, and then another chance was missed. We deserved to score those chances."

The German coach, in remarks carried by the BBC, added: "We knew it would be a difficult match. Ghana were more defensively compact than in their first game against Panama, and they relied on a 4-5-1 formation."

He continued: "We regained our strength as the first half progressed, but we were unable to secure the win."

The England head coach noted: "We also excelled at preventing counter-attacks throughout the match, which is very important, and the substitutes put in a distinguished performance."

When asked whether he might change his tactics when facing Panama in the third round, Tuchel concluded: "I don't know — that match is in four days."

With the draw, each side collected one point, leaving both teams level on 4 points after England's 4-2 victory over Croatia and Ghana's 1-0 win over Panama in the first round.

The result strengthened Ghana's chances of advancing to the round of 32 ahead of their clash with Croatia, while at the same time England face a theoretically straightforward test against Panama.
