FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will participate in the 2026 World Cup trophy ceremony, presenting the cup to the winning team in the final, scheduled for 19 July.

Speaking in an interview on the Fox & Friends programme, Infantino said Trump would be present at the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he will take part in presenting the trophy to the champion nation.

The FIFA president added: "I will be with President Trump to enjoy the final and present the trophy to the winning team," continuing: "I will certainly present the trophy with him — we are together all the time."

Infantino has maintained a close relationship with Trump for years, even as the US president has yet to make any public statement about the tournament, which kicked off on 11 June and is being held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Infantino's remarks recalled what took place at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final, also hosted by the United States, when Trump presented the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James following the English club's title triumph.

Trump remained on the presentation platform after handing over the trophy and joined Chelsea's players in celebrating their championship.
