Ibrahim Hassan, manager of the Egypt national team, confirmed that the squad will depart Canada in the afternoon — "midnight Cairo time" — aboard a private jet following the team's match against New Zealand. Egypt secured the first World Cup victory in their history, defeating New Zealand 3–1 in a match held in Vancouver, Canada, in the second round of Group 7 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Ibrahim Hassan added that the flight from Vancouver to Spokane, in the United States, takes 45 minutes aboard a private aircraft provided by FIFA.
Egypt now top Group 7 with 4 points, two ahead of Iran and Belgium in second and third place respectively, while New Zealand sit bottom of the group on 1 point. Egypt will face Iran in the next round on Saturday, while Belgium and New Zealand will play at the same time.
