Arab national teams have topped a negative record at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with their players scoring more than half of all own goals recorded in the tournament so far, making defensive errors one of the most prominent features of the Arab sides' World Cup campaign.

Arab players have scored 5 own goals from a total of 8 own goals registered at the 2026 World Cup so far, underscoring the scale of the defensive mistakes that have plagued some Arab teams during the group stage.

The total number of goals conceded by Arab teams in the tournament has reached 33. The latest own goal came during Saudi Arabia's 4-0 defeat to Spain, when Hassan Tambakti put the ball into his own net.

The list of Arab own goals at the 2026 World Cup also includes Yazan Al Arab of Jordan against Austria, Mohamed Hany of Egypt against Belgium, Mohammed Al Manaai of Qatar against Canada, and Ayman Hussein of Iraq against Norway.

Arab teams are looking to correct these mistakes in upcoming matches and avoid conceding goals in the same fashion, which could further jeopardise their World Cup campaigns.
