The Netherlands national team wrote a new chapter in their World Cup history after becoming the eighth side to enter the 100-goal club at the tournament, during their emphatic victory over Sweden in the second round of the group stage.

The Netherlands defeated Sweden 5-1 at Houston stadium, a result that carried the "Windmills" into the World Cup century list.

The Netherlands' second goal of the match, scored by Brian Brobbey, became the 100th goal in the Oranje's World Cup history.

The Dutch side became the eighth team to reach this milestone, according to the Opta sports statistics network, lifting their tally to 103 World Cup goals after the five-goal haul.

The Netherlands joined a list featuring the giants of the World Cup. Brazil and Germany lead the all-time scoring table with 241 goals each — figures recorded after the second round of the current edition, in which Brazil defeated Haiti 3-0 and Germany beat Côte d'Ivoire 2-1.

Behind Brazil and Germany come Argentina with 155 goals, France with 139, Italy with 128, Spain with 108, England with 104, and the Netherlands with 103.
