Harry Kane has revealed that a "message" from manager Thomas Tuchel during the half-time interval was the inspiration behind England's comeback, as they opened their World Cup campaign with an impressive 4-2 victory over Croatia.
Tuchel's side were level at 2-2 at half-time in their Group 12 opener in Dallas, after Martin Baturina and Peter Muusa equalised following England's two-goal advantage scored by Kane.
England raised the tempo after the break and secured a convincing win thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford.
Kane, England's captain, told ITV: "I think it was a game of two halves. In the first half, we were good, but I was really disappointed to concede a goal like that and to have the momentum shift."
He added: "Credit to the manager. He gave us a team talk at half-time where he said: if we lose, we lose, but we lose our way."
Kane continued: "You saw how we started the second half with everything we had. They couldn't live with us, and that's the level we need to maintain in every game."
He concluded, as quoted by the British news agency PA Media: "Full credit to everyone. First game of the tournament. A great result against a strong team."
