A South Korean influencer has received an invitation from FIFA to attend her country's match against Mexico on Thursday at the World Cup, after she was subjected to racist abuse during her country's opening match against the Czech Republic.

YouTuber Ino Cat, whose real name is Yoon Soo-jin, was targeted when a Mexican fan approached her and made a discriminatory gesture while she was filming footage during South Korea's match against the Czech Republic, held in Guadalajara in the first round of the tournament.

FIFA confirmed that it has banned the Mexican fan's ticket booking account, adding that the fan had apologised for his actions.

"We are pleased that Ino Cat's team has accepted our invitation to attend the Mexico vs. Korea match on June 18 in Guadalajara," FIFA said in a statement on its official website.

The international football governing body noted that the date coincides with the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, adding that FIFA would send a message of respect and solidarity in cooperation with Ino Cat's team.

FIFA's statement condemned racism, hatred, and discrimination in all their forms, stressing that there is no place for such actions and behaviour in football, at the World Cup, or anywhere in society.
