Michael Olise, the France and Bayern Munich star, was named man of the match in France's 2026 World Cup clash against Senegal, despite Kylian Mbappé scoring a brace as Les Bleus won 3-1 in their opening Group 9 fixture.
FIFA's official website announced that Olise had been selected as the best player of the match following the level he displayed in his first appearance at a World Cup finals.
Olise contributed to the French side's victory by creating more than one chance for his teammates, and it was his pass that led to Mbappé's first goal in the 66th minute of the match.
The 24-year-old began his international career with the France national team in September 2024, going on to amass 18 caps for Les Bleus, during which he scored 7 goals.
Olise, the former Crystal Palace player, progressed through France's youth teams before reaching the senior side, and subsequently moved to German club Bayern Munich.
France are preparing to continue their Group 9 campaign with a match against Iraq in the second round on 23 June, before facing Norway in the final round on 26 June.
