Belgium succeeded in scoring an equaliser against Egypt in their match held in Seattle, United States, as part of the first-round fixtures in Group 7 of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

After Egypt took the lead in the first half through Imam Ashour, Belgium levelled through an own goal caused by Mohamed Hani, the Egyptian national team's right back.

The goal came in the 66th minute following a cross towards substitute Lukaku from the right flank; Hani intervened in an attempt to clear the danger, but the ball ended up in the net of Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir.

Hani became the second Egyptian player to score an own goal at the World Cup, following the mistake by Ahmed Fathi in Egypt's net during the match against Russia, which ended in a 1–3 defeat for the Pharaohs at the 2018 World Cup.

Group 7 also includes Iran and New Zealand, who meet on Tuesday morning in the same round of fixtures.
