US police have announced the detention of two individuals in connection with the theft of equipment belonging to the England national team while it was being transported from Florida to Kansas City, the team's permanent base camp during the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The Football Association confirmed the theft took place at some point on Friday evening, but declined to provide further details due to the ongoing police investigation.

Phil De Martino, a Kansas City police official, said two people connected to the incident had been arrested, with authorities clarifying that the theft occurred at some point on Friday evening during the overland transfer of the equipment.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said city officials had learned that property belonging to the England team was stolen during its journey from Florida to the team's training facility in the city.
