Athletes from Sharjah Women's Sports Club brought their 2025–2026 season to a close with a strong showing at the Fujairah Combined Fencing Championship, held from 12 to 14 June at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. The tournament featured participation from Khor Fakkan Women's Sports Club, Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Abu Dhabi Fencing Club and MK Academy, with the Sharjah club's athletes claiming a total of 37 medals.
The first day of the championship saw the club's athletes shine in the under-10 and under-20 categories. In the under-10 épée, Shaikha Al Ansari took gold while Athba Saoud claimed silver. In the under-10 foil, Fatima Al Bloushi and Reem Al Shaali each added bronze medals to the club's tally. In the under-10 sabre, Sharjah athletes dominated the podium: Habiba Al Hammadi won gold, Sara Thabet silver, and Latifa Ali bronze. Hessa Al Bloushi added a bronze in the under-20 épée, while Shamma Al Maheiri took bronze in the under-20 foil. Layan Thabet excelled by winning gold in the under-20 sabre, followed by Shamma Al Suwaidi with silver and Mahra Al Zar'ouni with bronze.
On the second day, the club's athletes continued their medal haul across all weapons. Zainab Al Nahla won gold in the under-12 épée, with Shaimaa Al Qaz adding bronze in the same category, while Rawdha Al Jadi'a claimed silver in the under-17 épée. In the sabre, Noura Al Ketbi won gold in the under-12 category, Maitha Al Marzouqi took silver, and Fatima Al Hammadi earned bronze. Shamma Al Suwaidi won gold in the under-17 sabre, with Mahra Al Zar'ouni adding another bronze. In the foil, Touline Mohsen took gold, Reem Al Shamsi silver, and Fatim Al Badwawi bronze in the under-12 competition, before Shamma Al Maheiri closed out the day's events with gold in the under-17 category, with Dana Al Shamsi adding bronze in the same age group.
The third day saw continued excellence in the older age groups. Zainab Al Housni won gold in the open épée, with Touline Badir adding bronze, while Maryam Al Marzouqi took gold in the under-15 épée and Jouri Al Ali claimed bronze. In the open sabre, Maryam Al Dughaidi won gold and Mahra Abdullah took bronze, while Noura Al Ketbi and Mahra Al Zar'ouni each earned bronze medals in the under-15 competition. In the foil, Zainab Moussa took silver in the open category, Maya Diab won gold in the under-15 event, Touline Mohsen finished second to claim silver, and Reem Al Shamsi added bronze.
With a total haul of 37 medals — 12 gold, 8 silver, and 17 bronze — the athletes of Sharjah Women's Sports Club affirmed their strong presence across all weapons and age categories.
Mai Al Ameri, Deputy Director of Sharjah Women's Sports Club, said the results at the Fujairah Combined Championship represented a distinguished conclusion to a season full of participation and achievement, adding that the accomplishment crowned the considerable efforts invested throughout the season by the athletes, technical staff and administration, and reflected the level of commitment and discipline the athletes had demonstrated at every competitive stage.
Balqees Al Shehhi, Head of the Technical Analysis and Follow-up Division at the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation, said: "What was achieved at the Fujairah Combined Championship reflects clear maturity in the development pathway for fencing athletes within the Foundation's clubs. We are working at the Foundation to build technical continuity that ensures athletes capable of steady progress, of representing the Foundation's clubs with competence, and of supplying the national teams with qualified elements able to compete at all levels."
