Emirati athlete Amna Yousef Al Awadhi has won 73 medals in archery, including 52 gold medals. She also holds a Level 1 coaching certificate in archery, ranks 44th in the Asian rankings, and 158th in the world rankings. She has participated in numerous excellence awards and reached the final stage of the Fatima bint Mubarak Award for Women's Sports in the category of best Emirati female athlete.
She has also received numerous certificates of appreciation and recognition from various sports bodies and institutions in recognition of her outstanding sporting achievements and contributions to the development of archery in the United Arab Emirates. Notably, she holds the national, Gulf, and Arab record of 693 in the compound bow women's category, and is a member of the national team and of the Sharjah Women's Sports Club, with exceptional participation in numerous local, Gulf, Arab, regional, and international championships.
Amna Al Awadhi's journey in archery began out of curiosity and a desire to try something new, but the experience soon transformed into a genuine passion and a sporting path she aspires to continue developing. She noted that what attracted her most to archery is its combination of mental and physical dimensions, requiring high concentration, the ability to manage emotions and pressure, as well as precision and discipline. Over time, she came to see every competition as an opportunity to test herself before competing against others, and every achievement as a motivation to continue working, improving, and representing the United Arab Emirates in the best possible way.
Amna Al Awadhi explained that the most important qualities and qualifications an athlete must possess in archery are mental stability and the ability to maintain focus for extended periods, which is why she believes patience, discipline, and self-confidence are among the most essential traits a player must have.
She added: "The ability to handle pressure during competitions is also a fundamental factor, because the differences between competitors are often marginal and decided by small details. Alongside that, commitment to training and a constant desire to learn and improve form an important foundation for building a successful career in this sport."
Amna Al Awadhi said: "I have been honoured to represent the United Arab Emirates in a number of regional, continental, and international championships over the past years, which has given me diverse experience and contributed to the development of my technical level. Among the most notable participations I am proud of are the Youth World Championship, the Asian Cup, the West Asian Championships, the Arab Championship, the Gulf Games, in addition to a number of international tournaments sanctioned by World Archery. I am also proud of many achievements I have accomplished throughout my sporting career, most notably winning two gold medals at the 4th Gulf Games in Qatar, in the individual and team competitions in the women's compound bow category."
She also won gold medals at the West Asian Championships, the Arab Championships, and the Arab Women's Club Games, in addition to setting national records in the name of the United Arab Emirates. "These achievements represent for me the fruits of years of work, commitment, and the support I have received from everyone around me," she said.
She revealed her ambition to continue developing her technical level and to achieve a greater presence on the international stage by advancing in the world rankings and reaching the top 5 globally in the compound bow category. She also aims to compete for medals at Asian and World Championships, represent the United Arab Emirates at the Olympic Games, and contribute to new achievements for Emirati archery.
She added: "I greatly value the significant role played by the Sharjah Women's Sports Club and the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation in providing a comprehensive professional sporting environment through specialised facilities, technical preparation programmes, and opportunities for exposure and participation in local and international championships, which has directly contributed to developing my level and honing my experience as a player." She extended her thanks to the UAE Archery Federation, the National Olympic Committee, and all the coaches and administrators who played an important role in her career, affirming that sporting success is not achieved through individual effort alone, but is the fruit of an integrated system of support and collective work, and that she is fortunate to have people and institutions who believed in her abilities and helped her continue to develop and strive towards greater goals and represent the United Arab Emirates in the best possible way.
