German football club Bayern Munich has announced the completion of the transfer of German left-back Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt. Brown, 23, has signed a contract running until 30 June 2031. The deal was finalised following Germany's early exit from the World Cup after a shock defeat to Paraguay last Monday.
Brown, who joined the German national squad last season, returned to the starting line-up for the match in which Germany were eliminated, having missed the team's final group-stage game against Ecuador due to a hamstring injury. He had put in strong performances in the group-stage matches against Curaçao and Côte d'Ivoire.
Bayern Munich had announced last Wednesday the signing of Moroccan forward Ismail Saibari, a star of Morocco's World Cup squad, from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. The two Bundesliga clubs did not disclose the financial details of Brown's transfer, though media reports indicated the deal was worth around 55 million euros (63 million dollars), while Eintracht Frankfurt were said to have initially demanded more than 60 million euros.
"Bayern Munich is one of the best clubs in the world. Getting the opportunity to play for this club means a great deal to me and fills me with pride. I also come from Bavaria, which makes it even more special. I have always dreamed of competing for the biggest titles at the highest level," Brown said.
Bayern Munich had been seeking to sign a new left-back following the departure of Raphaël Guerreiro, as well as the recurring injuries to Alphonso Davies.
