Veteran Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has signed a two-year contract with Chicago Fire following the end of his stint with Spanish club Barcelona, the Major League Soccer club announced on Monday.
Lewandowski, 37, is one of the most prominent strikers of his generation. A product of the Warsaw youth academy, he previously played for German clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Lewandowski ranks third on the UEFA Champions League all-time top scorers list with 109 goals. He served as Bayern Munich's first-choice striker for eight seasons (2014–2022) before joining Barcelona (2022–2026).
Lewandowski arrives in the United States after helping the Catalan club win the league title last month.
Lewandowski has scored more than 700 goals for the Polish national team and the clubs he has represented, and has topped the scoring charts in both the German and Spanish leagues for a combined eight years.
The Polish striker will play across parts of three seasons with Chicago Fire, as Major League Soccer plans to hold an abbreviated 2027 season before transitioning to a schedule closely resembling other global leagues from the 2027–2028 season onwards.
