Sharjah Sports Club has officially announced the signing of Bahraini coach Abdulrahman Mohammed to lead the men's handball team, effective from the 2026–2027 sporting season, in a move that reflects the club's ambitions to continue a journey that reinforces its record of achievements and maintains its standing as one of the most prominent handball clubs in the United Arab Emirates and across Arab and Asian handball.

Abdulrahman Mohammed begins his assignment at Sharjah amid high expectations from the club's supporters and management, who hope the team will continue its run of domestic dominance and achieve a stronger presence in Gulf, Arab, and continental competitions, drawing on the new coach's experience and the talented players within the squad.

The signing of Abdulrahman Mohammed — who is known in sporting circles by the nickname "The Joker" — reflects his extensive coaching experience and a record filled with success at both national team and club level. He previously led the Bahrain national team and has coached Al Shabab and Al Dair clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, achieving distinguished results with both. He also has professional experience with Saudi club Al Wehda, and his most recent post was leading Al Najma Bahraini club at the 2026 Asian Men's Handball Club Championship, further cementing his reputation as one of the Gulf's most prominent coaches in the sport.

At the same time, Sharjah announced the termination of its contract with Brazilian technical director Marcos Ricardo de Oliveira, known as "Tata", by mutual agreement between both parties. The club extended its thanks and appreciation to him for what he contributed during his tenure, wishing him continued success in his future coaching career.

The Brazilian coach had taken charge of the men's handball team in June 2025 and succeeded in a short period in writing a distinguished chapter in the team's history, leading them to win 4 domestic titles and affirming the team's ability to assert its dominance on the UAE scene.

"Tata" also recorded a notable international achievement by guiding Sharjah to sixth place at the IHF Super Globe — Egypt 2025 handball World Club Championship, a participation that earned widespread praise following the honourable performance the team delivered against some of the world's strongest clubs, which further bolstered the international presence of UAE handball.
