Dr. Mona Ibrahim Al Raeesi, a board member of the UAE Handball Federation, has been elected by acclamation as Vice President for Women's Affairs of the Arab Handball Federation for the new electoral term 2026–2028, during the General Assembly of the Arab Federation held in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The assembly saw the formation of a new federation board, headed by Hassan Nasr Hilal, who was elected president by acclamation. Khaled Fathi, president of the Egyptian federation, was elected vice president, while Morocco's Al Adli Al Hanafi was acclaimed vice president representing the Maghreb countries, Oman's Moussa Al Balushi representing the Arab Gulf states, and Jordan's Tayseer Mansi representing the northern Arab countries.

The UAE Handball Federation participated in the General Assembly proceedings with a delegation led by Saud Ibrahim Saleh, the federation's president, and including Abdulsalam Rabea Al Muhairbee, the federation's secretary-general, alongside Dr. Mona Ibrahim Al Raeesi, board member.

This achievement is a continuation of Dr. Mona Al Raeesi's career in sports administration, having previously won membership of the Women's Committee of the Asian Handball Federation, maintaining her active presence at both the continental and Arab levels.

The meeting also saw the adoption of a number of resolutions concerning the future of the game, in addition to the election of the federation's new executive committee for the 2026–2028 term. The General Assembly approved the federation's financial and administrative report, and discussed ways to develop Arab Federation competitions and tournaments and strengthen cooperation among national handball federations.

Dr. Mona Ibrahim Al Raeesi expressed her happiness at the victory, affirming that the trust placed in her represents a great responsibility and a motivation to continue working towards developing Arab women's handball and enhancing its presence in various forums.

I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all Arab federations for this precious trust. I am also proud of the great support I received from the UAE Handball Federation, which played the most prominent role in reaching this position. In the coming period, I will seek to cooperate with all parties to launch initiatives and programmes that contribute to empowering women in handball, broadening participation, and supporting the exchange of expertise in a way that serves the development of the game across the Arab world.
