Zamalek Club has decided to retire the number 1 shirt from its first-team football squad's list of numbers for the upcoming 2026–2027 season, in a gesture to honour its supporters for the role they played in backing the team during its run to the Egyptian Premier League title.

Zamalek announced, in an official statement, that the club's board of directors, headed by Hussein Labib, made the decision "in appreciation of the great role played by Zamalek fans in supporting and standing behind the team throughout the season, and their effective contribution to achieving victory and the title."

The club confirmed that retiring number 1 represents part of its repayment of gratitude to its supporters, whom it described as an essential partner in the successes Zamalek achieves, having continued to back the team and stand by it in all circumstances.

Zamalek's board of directors stressed that the club's fans will always remain one of the most important factors in supporting the team's journey, affirming that the love and loyalty they show deserves appreciation and respect.

Zamalek was crowned Egyptian Premier League champions for the 15th time in its history, and for the first time since 2022.
