Bashirat Kharroudi of the UAE judo team won a bronze medal in the under-52 kg category on Tuesday evening at the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam, held in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, with 454 athletes from 58 countries competing.

Kharroudi secured the bronze by defeating Spanish champion Toro Soler, having delivered strong performances in the preliminary rounds, beating competitors from South Korea and Mongolia, before losing in the semi-finals to Japan's Uta Abe, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, who went on to claim gold in the event.

The national team will conclude its participation in the tournament on Wednesday with the heavyweight bouts, including Eliza Lativ in the under-78 kg category against the winner of the match between Serbia's Melic Izabek and Austria's champion Eilena Ding.

Aram Jorgian will compete in the under-90 kg category against Italy's Christian Parlani, while his teammate Zafar Kusov faces Croatia's Komrtish Zlatko in the under-100 kg category, culminating in Omar Maarouf's bout against Turkey's champion Ertug Munir in the over-100 kg category.
