Bashirat Kharrudi of the UAE judo team has qualified for the semi-finals of the under-52 kg category at the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam judo tournament, currently being held at the Steppe Arena in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar.

Kharrudi defeated South Korean player Minyeong Kim, Mongolian champion Urantsetseg Munkhbat by golden score, and Hungary's Gercsák Réka in the quarter-finals, advancing to the semi-finals where she faces top-seeded Japanese athlete Uta Abe.

The national team resumes its participation in the tournament tomorrow with 4 bouts in the half-lightweight category: Mohammed Beik competes in the under-73 kg against Italian champion Manuel Lombardo, and Naji Yazbeik faces Turkey's Seloglu Bilal in the same weight class, while Omar Gad takes on Indian champion Tokas Harsh, and his teammate Talal Shfili faces Puerto Rico's Gandia Adrian in the under-81 kg.

Today's results in the lightweight category saw Simon Constantine lose to Azerbaijan's Ahmed Yusuf in the under-60 kg, and his teammate Narmand Bayan fall to South Korea's Chang Kim in the under-66 kg.
