Dutch Eredivisie clubs Ajax Amsterdam and Twente announced today that Dutch striker Wout Weghorst has left Ajax to join Twente.
Weghorst, 33, who is part of the Netherlands squad as a backup option at the World Cup being held in Canada, Mexico and the United States but has yet to feature in the tournament, signed a two-year contract.
Erik ten Hag, Twente's sporting director, who previously also signed the player on loan at Manchester United three years ago, said: "We are extremely proud that Wout Weghorst is coming to play for Twente."
He added: "This deal represents a wonderful opportunity for us. He is a consummate professional in every sense of the word, and the perfect example of what you can achieve as a footballer when you are willing to give everything you have."
Weghorst, who featured for the Netherlands at the previous World Cup in Qatar and has 52 international caps, has previously played for Burnley, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim and Beşiktaş.
