Let us consider, with impartiality and objectivity, all the agreements announced over the past year by the administration of US President Donald Trump.
We begin with the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
We will note the following:
1 – Israel continues to hold two-thirds of Gaza's territory under occupation, under the pretext that it constitutes a yellow zone — that is, a buffer zone.
2 – Hamas continues to administer local and municipal affairs in Gaza, and its weapons have not been confiscated.
3 – The forces of the occupation army continue to carry out bombardments, targeted killings of Hamas leaders, and attacks on civilians, doctors, and journalists.
In the Iranian–American agreement, we will note:
1 – US military operations against Iran continue on a daily basis.
2 – Iran's reckless acts of aggression against its neighbours in the region continue.
3 – The war of hostile and public statements between the two sides continues.
4 – The dispute over the future of the Strait of Hormuz continues.
Finally, the Lebanese–Israeli agreement, reached under American sponsorship, faces major problems — chief among them the continuing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and the disagreement in negotiations over the concept of experimental zones.
Announcing agreements is one thing; implementing them is quite another.
