The sunrise each day — by the grace of God Almighty — and the sun's rotation in its orbit with infinite precision and exquisite order, is one of God's enduring signs since He created the universe, and it will remain so until He inherits the earth and all that is upon it.

Life is full of mysteries, and so is the universe, with its discipline, precise laws, wondrous harmonies, and intricate structures — all of them expressions of the Creator's will, exalted be He. We are unable to encompass their secrets, and we stand before them as believers in the greatness of their Maker.

This divine power is not manifest in the cosmic order alone; it extends to the making of human beings, the building of values, and the planting of principles that forge nations and immortalise homelands. Just as God placed in the universe a system that never falters, He placed in the human being the capacity to be an extension of that system when one is built upon faith, morality, and belonging.

Perhaps the most beautiful image of this is a fruitful tree: wherever it is planted it takes root, wherever it takes root it bears fruit, and wherever it bears fruit it creates new life around it. If you were to take a branch from a good tree and plant it in soil other than its own — soil different in its qualities and minerals — it would, by God's leave, grow into a tree carrying the very same qualities, its roots extending firm and steadfast, remaining true to its origin no matter how different the place.

As I was preparing this week's article, miles from my homeland, I found myself carried away by the innocent playing of a little girl performing the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates. At that moment I was certain that a good branch can only come from a good tree, and that fruit carries nothing but the qualities of its origin.

That fruitful tree is the Emirati people: its roots are firmly planted in the soil of the homeland, and its branches extend across the world, yet they bear nothing but good fruit. Wherever you find a branch of this origin, you recognise that behind it lie roots that no distance can uproot and no years can alter.

Love of homeland is not merely a slogan to be repeated; it is a creed of belonging, a faithfulness that dwells in the heart, and an identity that manifests in character before words, and in giving before claiming. For this reason, wherever Emiratis settle, they carry their homeland in their conduct, their knowledge, and their achievements, making them the finest ambassadors of their country — so much so that the UAE has come to be known by its people, just as a good tree is known by the goodness of its fruit.

And this remains one of the greatest of God's constants in His creation: just as the sun does not deviate from its course, and a good tree never fails to bear fruit, a noble origin remains a source of goodness. The homeland that plants values in its children remains present within them wherever they go, bearing the fruit of loyalty, bequeathing honour, and forging generations that carry its name with pride. When I contemplate all of this, I find no truer description than to say with full pride and dignity: My homeland — the tree that bears nothing but good.
