US President Donald Trump said the United States, as it approaches its 250th anniversary, is preparing for an economic boom "unlike anything any country has ever seen before," adding that recent developments in the Middle East are opening the door to a new era of growth and stability.
Speaking at the opening of the Great American State Fair on Wednesday at the National Mall in Washington, Trump said the signing of the agreement with Iran had quickly been reflected in the markets, noting that the stock market and retirement accounts have seen major gains since the deal was signed, while oil prices have fallen sharply.
The US president confirmed that Washington signed a "historic agreement" last week to end the conflict with Iran and fully open the Strait of Hormuz, saying he had achieved what no American president had been able to achieve, and that Iran "will never possess a nuclear weapon."
Trump also said his country is on the verge of achieving peace in the Middle East "for the first time in 3,000 years," in his own words.
