A US federal court has halted the Trump administration's efforts to obtain a subpoena against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and others in an investigation into immigration law enforcement.
US District Court Judge Patrick Schiltz found that the "primary purpose" of the subpoenas was to "compel Minnesota officials to assist the federal government in enforcing immigration laws, while harassing and retaliating against them for failing to do so."
The subpoenas were issued in January as part of an investigation to determine whether Walz and other officials had obstructed or impeded law enforcement during a sweeping immigration raid in the St. Paul area of Minneapolis.
