US Vice President JD Vance has hinted that agreements between the United States and Iran may extend beyond the terms of the deal announced to the public so far.
Speaking at a White House press conference on Thursday, Vance referred to "gentleman's agreements" covering certain aspects of the negotiations, such as Iran's uranium stockpiles.
When asked about such side deals, he said some of them had been put in writing.
He added that whether certain commitments took the form of a memorandum, informal understandings, or a future final agreement was a secondary matter.
"It's about verification," the Vice President said, adding that the United States relies not on words but on actions.
According to Vance, Iran has pledged to end uranium enrichment in the future and to grant international inspectors access to verify and dismantle current stockpiles of highly enriched uranium.
He said that if Tehran honours these commitments, the agreement stipulates that reciprocal concessions will be made by the United States, without providing further details.
