The Ministry of Health in the Democratic Republic of Congo announced on Saturday that the number of confirmed Ebola virus cases in the country has risen to 710, with 139 deaths recorded.
The World Health Organization had announced on 17 May that the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda constitutes an emergency and poses a risk to other countries.
On 5 June, the World Health Organization and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention launched a $518 million preparedness and response plan for the Bundibugyo disease virus (an Ebola strain) outbreak.
