Spain's meteorological agency raised the maximum red-level alert — its highest warning — in three regions in the east of the country on Tuesday due to a new heatwave, with temperatures expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
The agency forecast that the regions of Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia would be the worst affected by the new heatwave sweeping southern Europe this week, noting that the wave could persist until Thursday.
