US President Donald Trump told the Axios news website that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may visit the White House next week, stressing that the latter "knows who the boss is" in their relationship.
This comes amid reports of tension between the two men stemming from efforts to end the war that the United States and Israel waged against Iran in late February.
Trump said in a brief telephone interview with Axios that "our relationship is very good. And (Netanyahu) knows who the boss is," referring to himself.
However, an Israeli official told the US website that the visit may not take place next week, given that Trump will be travelling to Turkey to attend the NATO summit on 7 and 8 July.
The official added: "The visit may take place the following week."
For his part, Netanyahu's office announced that the two men spoke by telephone on Friday and agreed to hold a meeting "soon" in the United States.
