King Charles III affirmed on Saturday that the United States and the United Kingdom will continue to defend "shared values," in a message addressed to US President Donald Trump and the American people on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of independence.
In the message, published on X, the King wrote that as the two countries "look ahead to the next 250 years, I am certain that we will continue to uphold our shared values," including freedom and the rule of law.
The 77-year-old King had made a four-day state visit to the United States alongside Queen Camilla at the end of April.
The visit, which aimed to mend rifts in relations between Washington and London, was praised by both British and American media. The King said on Saturday that he believes "the bond between our two peoples... will only grow stronger with the passage of time."
