US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday the nomination of Lance Shroyer, a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol officer, to serve as the next director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Trump said on his Truth Social platform that his new nominee to lead the immigration enforcement agency is "a patriot with real field experience, a proven leader, and someone with decades of experience apprehending the most dangerous criminals."
The nomination comes after former ICE director Todd Lyons resigned at the end of May. David Venturella, a former executive at a private prison management company, is currently serving as acting director of the agency.
