An Egyptian research team led by Mansoura University's vertebrate palaeontology centre, SALAM Lab, has announced the documentation of the first confirmed fossil evidence of pterosaurs — flying reptiles — in Egypt, following the discovery of a pterosaur wing fragment inside rocks of the Bahariya Formation in Bahariya Oasis in the Western Desert, dating back more than 95 million years. The find opens a new chapter in understanding the ancient life that once inhabited Egyptian territory.
