Waves have swept hundreds of stunning blue marine creatures onto the shores of Wales, with some beachgoers describing them as resembling "alien beings."

Local residents were surprised by the appearance of this "blue tide" along the coasts of Anglesey island and western Gwynedd, with eyewitnesses confirming the presence of hundreds of the creatures, according to the British outlet Mirror. Environmental experts clarified that they are known scientifically as Velella velella, and are commonly called "by-the-wind sailors."
