Brigadier Dr Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Centre, presided over the launch of the "Together for the Safety of Bicycle and Scooter Users" initiative, targeting workers at Dubai Drydocks World, in the presence of Colonel Ahmed Abdullah Al Adaidi, Deputy Director of the Ports Police Centre, along with representatives from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, the General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police, and Drydocks World.
The initiative aims to enhance protection and safety for bicycle and scooter users, and to raise awareness of the importance of adhering to road safety instructions and guidelines, thereby ensuring overall safety and security. Brigadier Dr Al Suwaidi said:
The objective of the initiative is to educate bicycle and scooter riders working at Drydocks World about the regulations and laws governing road safety and the protection of road users, and to prevent the risk of being involved in or causing accidents as a result of unsafe behaviours by some cyclists, such as crossing the road at unauthorised points and riding between vehicles on public roads — conduct that can disrupt traffic flow and lead to accidents.
