Her Excellency Sanaa bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family, has affirmed that the father is a fundamental pillar upon which the family rests, through the pivotal role he plays in upbringing, guidance, instilling values, and building confidence in children, and that his positive presence in his family's life directly reflects on family stability, social cohesion, and society's ability to raise generations that bear responsibility and contribute to shaping the future.
Her Excellency added, on the occasion of Father's Day: "This day leads us to an enduring national legacy embodied by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, and the founding fathers who presented an exceptional model of fatherhood, leadership, and giving. Sheikh Zayed was a wise father to his sons and to the sons of the UAE, and through his humanitarian approach he instilled values that the wise leadership continues to entrench in the conscience of society — values built on compassion, solidarity, care for people, and the empowerment of the family."
Her Excellency explained that the United Arab Emirates has established a comprehensive system to enhance the role of the father, encompassing awareness programmes, community initiatives, and services that help fathers deal with contemporary educational and social challenges and support their active participation in their children's lives. The "Year of the Family" also reinforces this national direction by supporting family cohesion and strengthening relationships among family members, cementing the father's status as a principal partner in upbringing and in shaping the future of children.
The Minister of Family noted that honouring the father is honouring giving, responsibility, and role-modelling — a salute to every father who has contributed to building a stable family, instilled in his children love of the homeland and pride in its values, and devoted himself sincerely to building a more prosperous future for coming generations.
