Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has directed that Emirati fishermen in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah be exempted from their outstanding financial dues until the end of 2026, as part of his commitment to supporting them, reinforcing the stability of Emirati families, and preserving authentic national professions.

The directive coincides with 2026 being declared the "Year of the Family" in the United Arab Emirates, and embodies the vision of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah aimed at empowering citizens and providing the foundations of social and economic stability, thereby contributing to the enhancement of their quality of life and the sustainability of vital sectors linked to the national heritage.

Dr. Mohammed Yousef Mohammed Al Madfa'i Al Hamadi, Director General of the Environment and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, affirmed that the initiative reflects the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah's concern for supporting citizens and enhancing their livelihood stability. He noted that the exemption will help ease the financial burdens on Emirati fishermen, enabling them to continue their professional activities and develop their businesses, thereby strengthening the sector's contribution to the local economy.

He said: "The directive embodies His Highness's regard for the fishing profession as one of the authentic heritage trades that has historically formed an important part of the national identity and maritime legacy of the United Arab Emirates, in addition to its vital role in supporting food security and advancing sustainable development.

The exemption will reinforce the continuity of this vital sector in a manner that serves society and the national economy, and contributes to preserving the maritime heritage and passing it on to future generations."

In addition, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, issued Law No. 8 of 2026 on veterinary control and services in Ras Al Khaimah, with the aim of regulating and managing veterinary control and services operations in the emirate. The law is based on an approach grounded in the principles of prevention and anticipation, and the analysis of health and veterinary risks, in accordance with approved local and international standards, contributing to the preservation of biosecurity and ensuring the protection of animal health and public health.

The provisions of the law apply to all areas of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, including the Ras Al Khaimah economic zones.
