Colonel Salem Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of the Civil Defence Department in Ras Al Khaimah, has affirmed that protecting lives and property is the fundamental objective of the Civil Defence system, stressing that readiness, proactivity, and the promotion of community awareness form the main pillars of enhancing security and safety.

He explained that the department operates according to integrated plans focused on raising the level of response to incidents and emergencies, through developing human cadres, modernising equipment and machinery, and expanding the infrastructure of Civil Defence centres in line with the emirate's urban and economic growth.

Speaking during a community dialogue session organised by the Emirates Association for Social Development, he noted that ongoing awareness programmes are among the most important prevention tools, with the department implementing field and media initiatives targeting various segments of society. He pointed out that the proportion of beneficiaries of these programmes in 2025 has exceeded 70% of the emirate's population, through specialised campaigns targeting schools, winter camps, industrial areas, and commercial facilities — reflecting the broad scope of preventive work and its role in enhancing community safety.

Summer preparations

Al Nuaimi also addressed preparations for the summer season, explaining that rising temperatures necessitate greater attention to the maintenance of air-conditioning units and electrical wiring, and adherence to safety requirements. He called on families to take the necessary preventive measures to avoid causes of fires and domestic accidents.

He added that inspection teams carry out periodic and surprise visits to facilities to verify compliance with fire prevention requirements, including the readiness of alarm and fire suppression systems and emergency exits, affirming that the integration of regulatory and awareness efforts contributes to enhancing community protection. He also revealed the department's intention to employ artificial intelligence technologies in data analysis, risk prediction, and support for rapid decision-making, thereby boosting operational efficiency and elevating the level of services.
