The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre has launched the new edition of the "UAE Hijri Calendar" for the year 1448 AH, coinciding with the start of the new Hijri year, continuing its role in preparing and issuing the UAE Hijri Calendar, determining prayer times for the various emirates and regions of the country, and establishing the beginnings of the Hijri months.

The Centre continues to issue the UAE Hijri Calendar drawing on accumulated expertise in this field and on religious, astronomical, and scientific foundations developed in cooperation with specialised committees and bodies, ensuring accuracy in determining the beginnings of the Hijri months and prayer times across the country in accordance with the geographical characteristics of each city, including its location, longitude, and latitude.

The publication of the calendar comes within the framework of the Centre's commitment to raising awareness of the Hijri calendar and strengthening the community's connection to its religious and cultural heritage. The Hijri calendar represents an element in the observance of rites and acts of worship linked to their appointed times, and is also connected to aspects of the cultural and heritage memory of the United Arab Emirates, including knowledge associated with the Dirat Al Durour, Al Tawaleh, and the seasons.

The UAE Hijri Calendar for 1448 AH contains diverse content encompassing prayer times in both solar noon and sunset time formats for the emirate of Abu Dhabi and its affiliated cities and regions, in addition to information on the Hijri months, zodiac signs, Al Durour, Al Tawaleh, and the seasons, along with associated local practices and knowledge that reflect aspects of community life.

The edition also includes information on the most prominent monthly astronomical events and tidal movements, alongside educational and heritage content meeting the needs of members of the public and those with an interest in this field.

The Centre's role is not limited to issuing the calendar and determining prayer times; it extends to developing a knowledge and service ecosystem linked to this annual publication, through both print and digital outputs that facilitate access to information and support the dissemination of knowledge related to the Hijri calendar and prayer times.

The edition includes the "UAE Hijri Calendar" smart application, which allows users to view prayer times for the various emirates and regions of the country, the Qibla direction, annual occasions, and the Dirat Al Durour, in addition to all the information contained in the printed calendar, within a user-friendly technical format.

The Centre has also relaunched the dedicated UAE Hijri Calendar website in a new design at https://hijri.szgmc.gov.ae.
