Thumbay Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Geneva College of Longevity Science (GCLS) in Switzerland, making it the first private medical university in the United Arab Emirates to offer specialised academic education in longevity medicine, healthy ageing, preventive healthcare, and precision medicine. The programmes will be delivered through the newly established Thumbay Institute for Longevity Medicine.
The partnership brings together the Geneva College of Longevity Science (GCLS) — the first academic higher-education institution dedicated exclusively to the science of healthy longevity — and Gulf Medical University (GMU), with its internationally recognised academic excellence, supported by Thumbay Healthcare Network's comprehensive clinical ecosystem. This creates a unique platform to advance education, scientific research, innovation, and professional development in longevity medicine across the Middle East.
The strategic collaboration aligns with the UAE's vision to become a global hub for advanced healthcare, preventive medicine, and medical innovation, cementing the UAE's position — and that of the wider Arabian Gulf region — as a leading destination in longevity medicine.
Under the partnership, the Thumbay Institute for Longevity Medicine will launch 6 internationally accredited professional certificate programmes, delivered via a hybrid learning model over 3 months, with a capacity of 100 participants per programme. These are:
- Thumbay Professional Certificate in Clinical Longevity Medicine
- Thumbay Professional Certificate in Physiotherapy for Longevity
- Thumbay Professional Certificate in Nutrition for Longevity
- Thumbay Professional Certificate in Fitness for Longevity
- Thumbay Professional Certificate in Peptide Medicine
- Thumbay Professional Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
The programmes are designed for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, nutritionists, fitness practitioners, and other allied healthcare professionals. They combine Swiss academic expertise with GMU's educational excellence, its clinical faculty, simulation services, and integrated academic health system.
Participants will benefit from internationally benchmarked curricula developed by GCLS, supported by a distinguished roster of international visiting professors and regional clinical experts, as well as clear academic progression pathways towards advanced studies in the field.
The 2026 Global Longevity Physicians Survey, conducted by the college and encompassing physicians from 6 continents, revealed that 99% of specialists are witnessing a notable rise in patient demand, with 44% reporting growth exceeding 50% over just 3 years.
Additionally, 83% of respondents believe healthcare is decisively shifting towards preventive medicine, while 76% expect significant extension of average lifespans to become a tangible reality within two decades.
